The following story is the article written about me as my opportunity to be in the Top 10 Fascinating People in Northeast Arkansas.  Something I am very proud to be a part of.  At the time I served as Technical Director for the Foundation of Arts in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

You'd be hard pressed to fine one world to accurately describe Gaylon Tyner.  This multi-talented man writes, draws, sings, designs, coaches, acts, manages, drafts and referees.  To that list, you could safely add paints, builds, and dances.  The shorter list would be the list of things Gaylon can't do.

One of his claims to fame is that he was once the Arkansas State University Indian brave for three years, and the Chief Big Track for one year.  During his tenure as mascot he "took the role to another level.  It might not have been politically correct, but I was entertaining to watch as I threw fire and shot arrows which turned into firework," he said proudly.
And he is still entertaining.  "All of my life I wanted to be a performer.  Obviously, I'm not a rock star, but I do act, sing, and designs stages for the Foundation of Arts.  I guess all of those years enjoying KISS theatrics paid off," he jokes.
Gaylon is one of those lucky people who has worked job that he truly enjoys.  He serves as the Technical Director for the Foundation of Arts creating "magic" for their productions.  It the perfect job for a man who "loves to take a small piece of anything and help it grow to be as big as it can be.  I love success stories...like when someone has put their all into something they believed was right, and defied the odds to do it."
So it should come as a surprise that Gaylon has had a poem published nationally, made the top 100 finalist of 20,000 entries in a nationwide photo contest, won second place out of 2,000 entries in a music video creation contest, recorded a music CD, written/directed/produced his own plays, and is currently finishing a Jayne Mansfield biography that he's been working on for 15 years.  "The only downside is that I usually have four to five projects going at the same time," he said.
And he likes it that way.  "I love to create, and challenge myself, and I like who I have become.  the best part is that although I had no idea how the pieces of my life would fall together, I get to use all of my experiences and previous occupations in my current job.  I am doing what I like to do, and am heading in the right direction."
"I want to know that my life had a purpose and that I made a difference in others' lives.  Whether it's making someone smile, or think seriously about a situation, I want to know that I had a positive impact.  I want those around me to know that there is nothing in this world that they can't do as long as they apply themselves."
With that attitude, it's no wonder that Gaylon has one of the most eclectic resume's of anyone in the area.  And a legion of fans.
